Jewel's bus driver fell asleep at the wheel on Sunday night. Jewel and husband Ty Murray were not on the bus; passengers were shaken up, but thankfully no one was hurt. The bus ended up in a ditch between Virgina and Tennessee after the Brad Paisley show. Passengers ended up hopping on one of Brad's buses and heading home.
Scary situation, but we're glad no one was hurt! Sounds like someone needed to give her driver a cup of Joe!!
American Idol, the mega-hit TV competition that has given us Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and Josh Gracin, announced this week that they'll add a new judge to the panel this season. Kara DioGuardi will join Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell as the judges for this season...and although she has yet to have a big-time country hit, she has spent time writing songs for Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, and country crossovers, Jewel and Jessica Simpson.
Who knows...maybe she'll give a bigger voice to country music during this season's competition!
Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley have both announced extensions to their respective tours. Rascal Flatts "Bob That Head Tour," which also features Taylor Swift, will now run until November 2nd with the final show being held at Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, CT. Brad Paisley's "Paisley Party Tour" will now offer fans a second leg that begins in January and runs through March. No word on if current tourmates Jewel and Chuck Wicks will remain on the bill, but Julianne Hough will not.
Jewel & Ty Murray have released their first wedding photo...how beautiful is that picture?! They gave People magazine details of their engagement and low-key wedding...Ty actually proposed to Jewel back on May 23rd, which is her birthday, but they've kept it a secret from everyone, including their families, ever since. Jewel said that being able to pull off such a big event so quietly made it "magical." She also said announced that they're looking forward to expanding their family as soon as they can, to which Ty agreed "We're going to start working on that tonight!"
TMZ is reporting that Jewel and her husband of only 2 days, Ty Murray, are both "in the mix" to be contestants on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars. Hmmm...we're not sure what to think of that. Ty Murray seems like such a private guy...we really don't hear or see much from him at all...so would he really go all Hollywood doing DWTS? We can't picture it, but maybe...it would be fun to watch for sure...we just aren't buying it until we hear the official announcement!
Country newcomer, Jewel and her boyfriend of 10 years, champion bull rider, Ty Murray have gotten married! After Jewel's job of judging Nashville Star ended earlier this week, she and Ty headed down to the Bahamas and got married last night! Congrats to the Newlyweds.
Jewel joined the likes of country greats George Strait, Reba McEntire and Sara Evans on Tuesday when she puckered up for a good cause! Jewel added an autographed imprint of her lips to a charity auction benefiting Mary Kay's A Kiss For Country. The foundation benefits women's shelters across the country that house women affected by domestic violence. In addition to the charity auction, Mary Kay will donate $20,000 to a women's shelter in Jewel's home state.
We've all heard rumors of this break-up for months, but it's now official, Big and Rich are no longer Big and Rich! The duo performed their last show together over the weekend at Country Jam USA. According to our friends at GAC.com Big Kenny is taking time off to undergo physical therapy on his chronic neck pain.
John Rich has his own projects such as being a judge on Nashville Star and helping many artists such as Jewel and James Otto produce their recent albums. Good Luck to both of them!

Recording superstar, Jewel, who has recently been welcomed into the Country industry on the heels of her first Country hit, "Stronger Woman" has some advice for newcomer Jessica Simpson. Jessica is of course, no stranger to the music world, but is now making her first attempt at success in Nashville. Jewel tells People magazine that Country fans "have an excellent authenticity meter" and that they can "spot a bull - a mile away." She feels that as long as Jessica can stay true to herself and be authentic, she'll have no problem finding success in Country. Jessica's first Country album will be released in September and features all but 3 songs that were written, or co-written by Jessica herself. The album's first Single, "Come On Over" is currently climbing the charts where it just broke into the top 25!
Our thoughts on this: We're really not sure about Jessica...we both used to like her a lot, even before her crossover attempt in Country. BUT, you can't fake authenticity and we saw Jessica several times at the CMA Fest...we were SO excited when she first showed up, but that excitement was QUICKLY deflated from Jessica's lack of fan attention and enthusiasm for the festival. During her outings, we NEVER saw her sign autographs, take pics with fans, or even acknowledge them. She did sign autographs and take pictures during her stint at the Nashville Convention Center, but it was so robotic...she didn't even act happy to be there. Oh, and Papa Joe was there behind her the whole time...a little creepy for sure...AND, CaCee was there...you know, her bff?? Well, we were super excited to see her too but she never even smiled...she just stared blankly off into space...she could have at least said hi to people and tried to get more support for Jessica. Whatevs...we hope Jessica changes our minds, but she pretty much REALLY let us down. Team Nick!
