Kenny Chesney Reflects on Farm Aid

With his tour just ending ending and his Caribbean vacation just beginning, it may have seen like an inconvenient time for Kenny Chesney to head up to New England to perform at Farm Aid this past weekend. But for Kenny, it was a natural answer of "yes" when his good friend, Willie Nelson, approached him about participating in the annual event. Kenny told Dial-Global "I think that anything that we can do to help our own country and the people that help make our country what it is, is a good thing. The great thing about doin' this particular show is that it's kind of genre-less. It's people that love music. It's where everything is universal. There's no genre that day -- it's just all singer-songwriters and people that are there because they really want to be and really want to help the American farmer. And it's a good thing to do."

We dug up a few more pictures from the show...enjoy!

Here are a few pics (courtesy of our friend Sue - she was at the show and said it was Awesome!) of Kenny Chesney performing his acoustic set at yesterday's Farm Aid event in Mansfield, MA. Willie Nelson joined Kenny on stage when Kenny sang "10 With A 2" from Kenny's upcoming "Lucky Old Sun" album as well as "Last Thing I Needed First Thing This Morning"...both of those songs were written by Willie.

Kenny Chesney Joins Farm-Aid Lineup

Fresh off the heels of his sold out show on Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, this morning we wake to news that Kenny Chesney will be returning to New England. On September 20th, Kenny Chesney will pay tribute to the farmers of America by joining the all-star lineup of this years Farm-Aid festival. Kenny says “American family farmers are what this country is built on…and they have fed us and kept us strong and healthy for how many generations? Growing up in a small town outside Knoxville (TN), it was a big part of who we were – and it’s something we as a country shouldn’t lose. If I can help be part of that – whether it’s raising money, or awareness, or just letting those family farmers know someone knows and cares – well, that’s why I’m coming to New England.” Kenny joins Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp on the list of already announced performers, with more announcements expected. Tickets for the show go on sale through all Ticketmaster locations today.

Farm Aid Heads To The Norhteast

Farm Aid co-founder, John Mellencamp announced today that the annual festival will take place in New England this year, a first ever location for the festival. Now in it's 22nd year, Farm Aid has raised over $30 Million in its effort to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture. The full line-up of the event is yet to be released, but we do know that the headliners will be Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp. You can receive updates, donate to the cause, or get ticket info by heading to their website or by calling 1-800-FARM-AID. Not only is Farm Aid obviously a great cause to donate to, but the spirit of the festival is something that we should all appreciate. It's all about community and helping our fellow man, all the while getting to participate in a great day of music.
