American Idol's Country Connection

American Idol, the mega-hit TV competition that has given us Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and Josh Gracin, announced this week that they'll add a new judge to the panel this season. Kara DioGuardi will join Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell as the judges for this season...and although she has yet to have a big-time country hit, she has spent time writing songs for Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, and country crossovers, Jewel and Jessica Simpson.

Who knows...maybe she'll give a bigger voice to country music during this season's competition!

Trace Adkins ~ 5 Year Opry Member

Congratulations to Trace Adkins who will celebrate his 5-year anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by performing there tonight. Other artists on the bill include Wynonna and Martina McBride.

Taylor Swift Is "Fearless"

Taylor Swift has released a few details of her upcoming album...it will be titled Fearless and will be released on November 11th with presales beginning on August 22nd. Taylor wrote or co-wrote all 13 songs on the CD, including the song "Change" which is being featured as the soundtrack for daily video highlights of the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. The CD features a few famous guests...the song "Breathe" was co-written and sung with Colbie Caillat, and the snapping fingers that you'll hear at the end of "Hey Stephen" belong to none other than the kids of Martina McBride!

Martina To Host Awards

The Academy of Country Music will hold it's first official ACM Music Honors at the Musician's Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville on September 17th. The evening will be hosted by Martina McBride and will honor such country music legends as Bill Anderson, Dick Clark, Brenda Lee, Oak Ridge Boys, Fred Rose, Conway Twitty, and Porter Wagoner.
