Melissa Lawson To Perform @ Grand Ole Opry

Nashville Star winner, Melissa Lawson, is set to perform at Nashville's sacred Grand Ole Opry this Saturday, August 16th. Since winning the competition on August 4th, Melissa has been to Beijing to perform at the Olympics and now is headed back to Nashville for the OPRY...how exciting is that?!?! After the Opry, she'll head home to Texas to spend a little time with her husband and their 5 sons before heading back to NashVegas to record her debut CD. Of the opportunity to play on the Opry stage Melissa says "This is more than I could have ever hoped for...since I was 17 years old, I have been performing on the Opry circuit in Texas. To be acknowledged by the Grand Ole Opry and asked to perform is such an honor." Melissa's Opry debut will be aired live on GAC at 8pm ET.

Melissa Lawson Is Nashville's Newest 'Star'

In case being a Mom to 5 boys isn't crazy enough, Melissa Lawson's life just got a whole lot crazier! Monday night, Melissa took home the title of "Nashville Star" and immediately released her 1st single, "What If It All Goes Right" which went straight to No. 1 on iTunes Tuesday. As the winner of the competition, Melissa receives a recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville and heads to Beijing next week to perform at the Olympics! Melissa also received a brand new truck which she can't wait to give to her husband...she said that he'd been driving an old truck so that they could afford a bigger car for her to cart all the boys around in, so she was excited for him to finally have a nice vehicle!

Ok, we're not shy, we'll say it...how cool is it to see someone steal the spotlight that isn't perhaps America's typical version of a celebrity?! She's not stick thin, and as a working Mom to a big family, it's just not your typical celebrity story...we're excited for Melissa and we're glad to see someone so 'real' be in the spotlight...obviously life will never be the same for her and her family so GOOD LUCK MELISSA!

Nashville Star ~ Season Finale

Don't forget to tune into NBC tonight for the season finale of Nashville Star. At the end of the show, this season's winner will be announced, and no doubt, their life will be changed forever! If you can't tune in to the show tonight, CMT will re-air the season finale on Friday, August 8th. Tonight's winner will be the recipient of a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records as well as a live performance from the Olympics in Beijing on August 12th.

The shows final four contestants, Shawn Mayer, Coffey, Melissa Lawson, and Gabe Garcia will hit the road in September for a nationwide tour. Coffey was the latest to be voted off the show, so the finale tomorrow night consists of the other three...but he will be on the tour this fall. Official dates and locations haven't been announced, but check back in with us and we'll let you know when they are.
